WEEK 2 -- DAY 9 AND COUNTING

Day 9 began with another blueberry croissant.  I'm getting new tires on my car so I was housebound all day.  Usually that means a day of eating.  But not anymore.  Didn't have anything else until dinnertime and felt like a scrambled egg with sausage sandwich on white toast.  I actually had 1 1/2 sandwiches.  For something sweet -- 3 Milano cookies.  In the past, I would have eaten 3/4 of the bag.

The biggest change so far has been the lack of candy eating.  Usually, when I go upstairs to watch TV in the evening, I eat candy for a solid hour....lots and lots of candy.  I started out by cutting it down and now I haven't even had any today at all.  Kudos to me.

Here's something I noticed when I started doing this blog.  Initially, when I thought of this idea in 2010, I thought it was a unique idea.  I had just seen the movie Julie and Julia, where an aspiring chef, blogged about cooking Julia Childs recipes for 365 days.  So I thought it would be a great idea to blog everyday about losing weight.  And then I thought of my most interesting concept....I'd try to lose a pound a week for 52 weeks and call the blog "52lbs. in 52 weeks"---- ingenious, right?  Or so I thought until I googled it and found that there are many people doing this.  So much for my great idea.  But here's the sad thing.  I clicked on most of the links and most of them ended up dead trails after a few weeks. Some of the weight loss blogs didn't even last a week. I don't think I found one where it came to fruition in the end and the blogger was successful -- myself included.  The blog I started in 2010 ended on February 14th after 42 days of blogging and a weight loss of 14.5 pounds....it must have been the candy I got as a Valentine's Day present that did me in.

So now I'm trying the same concept again.  I think I'll tell my husband "No Candy for Valentine's Day" this year and see if I can get past February 14th.
