WEEK 1 -- DAY 5 -- DELAWARE PARK

Well here we are at Day 5.  Wish I knew how much I weighed.  Spoke with a friend of mine who also started a diet program on the 1st so it's nice to know I have company.  She only wants to lose 30 pounds.  I want to lose three times what she wants to lose. She said she has lost 5 lbs. already.  I'll be happy if I have lost 3 when I get on the scale on Tuesday but, even if I've only lost one pound, I'm on schedule because that's how much I need to lose each week.

I was at Delaware Park today playing in a poker tournament which is always a challenge.  I get so hungry and there's only junk to eat.  Today I brought a bag of almonds and sunflower seeds with me so I'd have something to snack on.  Got knocked out of the tournament at about 7PM so just grabbed a hot dog before I got in my car.  When I got home, my husband had gotten dinner and left me half of his portion of bread pudding.  Just what I needed but he knows how much I like it.  Also had a roll and butter for breakfast.  Not real diet food but so much less than I have been eating on a daily basis.

Saw an interesting show on 20/20 last night about people who have lost half their size in weight.  It's really unbelievable.  They also said that 45% of people start some kind of a weight loss/exercise program on New Year's Day but only 8% stick to it.  Please, let me be one of the 8%.  Another interesting thing these weight loss people said was that as they started to lose weight, they added new things to their program....like walking or eating more salads or cutting out soft drinks.  They got so motivated that they were losing weight that it became easier to change their lifestyle.  This is how it usually works for me so don't judge me for the bad food I'm eating right now.  The important thing is that I'm eating less and as I start to lose, I'll get better at this.

I'll be home all day tomorrow so hopefully will have a good day.
