This is the first time I've been on a diet and woke up and didn't weigh myself. I'm actually happy I've made the decision to only get on the scale once a week. It's actually liberating. But I absolutely can't wait to wake up on Monday morning and finally weigh myself. There's so many things I can't wait for but the main thing is just wearing "normal" clothes. My time will come.
Today wa
s the second day of the New Year, New You! segment on Regis and Kelly. T
heir guest was Dr. Wendy Bazilian coauthor of The Super Foods Rx Diet and she spoke about Foods On The Go. I found this interesting because there's many times I find myself in a rush with no time to eat anything good and I don't know what to reach for. Everyone thinks all of those "energy" bars are good but she pointed out that they have to have four things....1) they have to be 150 calories or less 2) they have to contain less than 10 grams of sugar 3) they have to contain lots of fiber 4) they have to contain some kind of real food like an oat, a nut or a piece of dried fruit. Another interesting tidbit was when you're having dessert in a restaurant. The first tip is to share it and the second tip is to stop after three bites. But really, let's face it, do you need more than three bites. I finish it because it's there but I'm definitely usually satisfied after three bites and my sweet tooth has been satiated.
Usually I have a reason to lose weight like an upcoming vacation or big family event. This year I don't have any of those things although one of my best friend's sons is getting married this summer. If I lost a pound a week until the wedding, I calculate I will be thirty pounds lighter....I'll take it.
Today I didn't do too many "plan" related things other than going to the supermarket. I wanted to find something to snack on so I'm not reaching for a cookie or a bag of chips when I get hungry. I came upon Jello cups but they had two kinds.....No Sugar and Sweetened. The no sugar ones were 10 calories and the sweetened ones were 70 calories each. I bought both because I was interested in seeing if I could really tell the difference and if the sugarless ones would be palatable. Guess what....they were. I did put a dab of Redi Whip on the top and I honestly couldn't tell the difference. So this little snack will add up to 25 calories which includes the Redi Whip.
Tomorrow is my day in the city to see a Broadway show and then dinner on Theatre Alley. I'll be back to report on my day upon my return.
