What a surprise it was when I got on the scale this morning and found out that I now have a new "highest" weight. Nothing really to be proud of but it is what it is and this is the number I'll be starting with......233. That's right, I'm putting it in bold so I'll remember it.
It's always great to start a diet of sorts right after New Years because all of the TV shows are doing segm
ents on weight loss. This week on Regis and Kelly, they kicked off a "New Year -- New You" segment which today featured Ellie Krieger of the Food Network. She was there to talk about the top diet mistakes. I must already be a diet expert because many of the things she discussed are things I intended to incorporate into my "plan". She said not to set unreasonable goals....I'm not since I'm only trying to lose one pound a week. She said don't cut out certain foods completely; just have less.....which is something I intend to do. She said don't "drink" your calories by having too much soda or sweetened tea....also something I spoke about cutting down. And lastly she said, "Don't Diet" -- make a lifestyle change....WHICH IS WHAT I'M DOING. This makes
me feel even better about my "plan" and its success.
Then on Rachel Ray, she had someone from Prevention Magazine touting the effects of eating four 400 calorie meals a day which would give you a total of 1600 calories. If you ate this many daily calories, this guest felt you would ultimately lose weight. I might even buy the book "400 Calorie Fix" to see what kind of 400 calorie recipes they have.
So for my first week of my new "plan" (I'm going to use that word instead of diet), this is what I'll be doing. I will walk for approximately thirty minutes at least three times this week. I will also be conscious about what I'm eating. Instead of just throwing things in my mouth, I'm going to think about what I'm eating. A trip to the supermarket is also in the plan so I can actually have some healthy things in the house to eat.
So that's it for the first week. That doesn't sound too bad and it definitely sounds doable. And that's the whole point of this "plan". It has to be something I can DO.......not something that's hard right off the bat.
One person who is ve
ry excited about this is my dog who will be joining me on those thirty minute walks.......obviously not my dog. ha ha!!! Afterall, this is an anonymous blog. But, mine is a similar kind of dog at least.
DAY 1 RESULTS:
Walked -- 23 minutes....it was freezing
Had scrambled eggs and toast for breakfast (kind of like weight watchers)
Had a Jennie Craig meal for dinner
Had a 130 calorie ice cream after dinner
